Carey Hartin Dukes

Carey Hartin Dukes began teaching classes for the Sri Sumanajothi Dhamma School at the Austin Buddhist Vihara in January 2009. She has been a high school teacher since 2001. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Anthropology from Carleton College. She spent a semester in Sri Lanka studying at Peradeniya University’s Faculty of Arts and wrote her Senior Thesis on Women’s Role in Buddhism in Sri Lanka. She also has a Master of Education degree from George Washington University. She enjoys teaching the principles of Buddhism and mentoring the high school students who teach the Dhamma classes after they graduate from the Dhamma School. Her twins also participate in the Dhamma School.
