Vesak Lantern - June 7, 2008

The unveiling of the Vesak Lantern took place on the temple premises on June 7th 2008. The structure was constructed from wood and decorated with fine paper cut outs of traditional Sri-Lankan designs. The "Sath Sathiya", the seven weeks after enlightenment of the Lord Buddha comprised the core of the lantern which itself arose from a lotus set on the ground.
The core was lit from the inside and rotated when lit. The design and construction of the lantern was entirely the effort of the devoted youth of the temple and their remarkable efforts evoked the joy of Vesak in all.
